Formula
To convert between data storage units, multiply the value by the conversion factor to the base unit (bytes), then divide by the conversion factor of the target unit. Binary base: 1 KiB = 1024 bytes, 1 MiB = 1024 KiB, etc. Decimal base: 1 KB = 1000 bytes, 1 MB = 1000 KB, etc.
Definitions and limits
These pair pages use decimal data units: 1 kB = 1,000 B and 1 GB = 1,000 MB. Binary units use KiB, MiB and GiB: 1 GiB = 1,024 MiB. Select binary mode in the full converter for binary quantities. A byte is 8 bits.
