Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Impermanent Loss?

Impermanent loss happens when you provide liquidity to an AMM, and the price of your deposited assets changes compared to when you deposited them. The larger the divergence in price between the two assets, the greater the impermanent loss. It is called 'impermanent' because if the prices return to the exact same ratio as when you deposited, the loss disappears.

Is Impermanent Loss always bad?

Not always. When you provide liquidity, you also earn trading fees from the pool. If the trading fees you earn exceed your impermanent loss, your LP position will still be profitable overall. This calculator helps you see the base loss before fees.
