Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between the repayment methods?

Equal payment keeps principal plus interest constant each month at a fixed rate. Equal principal repays the same principal amount each month, so interest and total payments decrease. For the same principal, rate and term, equal principal generally has lower total interest but higher initial payments.

How can I check a monthly payment?

For principal 100,000, annual interest 4.8%, one year, and equal payment: the monthly rate is 0.048/12 and there are 12 payments. The monthly payment is 8,551.59, total repayment 102,619.03 and interest 2,619.03. Totals use unrounded payments before display rounding.

Does this calculate a fee-inclusive APR or early repayments?

No. Enter the loan’s annual interest rate; the engine divides it by 12 and assumes that it stays constant. Fees, insurance, changing rates and early repayments are not modeled. A fee-inclusive APR and lender-specific rounding or day-count rules can produce different costs.
