Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between progressive and simple step pricing?
Progressive (marginal) pricing applies each tier's rate only to usage within that tier's range. For example, with tiers of 0-100 at $1 and 100+ at $2, using 150 units costs 100×$1 + 50×$2 = $200. Simple step pricing applies one rate to the entire usage based on which tier the total falls in, so 150 units would cost 150×$2 = $300.
What is block pricing?
Block pricing combines a fixed base fee with tiered usage rates. The base fee covers fixed costs (infrastructure, maintenance) while the tiered rates cover variable costs. Total cost = Base Fee + Sum of (usage in each tier × that tier's rate).
